the gal who never stopped loving the art of hospitality, even when she wanted to.
I was raised by very social parents, my Mom was an air hostess from the States and my Dad (Big Tone) was an engineer from Ireland. I always remember our Sunday walks when I was little, every time we passed strangers, without fail, Big Tone would greet them with something like “lovely day, isn’t it” or an “afternoon!” and I loved how it connected us strangers for a brief moment.
So I began to copy him, always greeting, dancing and entertaining people whenever I got the chance. I wanted to make people smile, laugh and feel seen in whatever space or mood they were in, so, shock, I fell into hospitality.
I always knew that I bring unrelenting energy, a high EQ + the need to deliver exceptional experiences/hospitality/service, to the table (and that dirty martini that you ordered, ma’am).
My love and work within hospitality has gone through many iterations, from the earnest, bright-eyed, 21 year old restaurant manager, to the first hire of a new street food events start-up, to freelance market manager, social media go-to girl. Oh wait, can’t forget brand development, campaign leader, influencer relationships, pop-up planning, wedding operation, content coaching + community cultivating for gyms, cafes and restaurants…for businesses in the UK, USA and as far as Sri Lanka.
This career journey has led me to this buzz-word-umbrella-term people use for me, which is ‘hype girl’, which is broad, yes, but so is my skill-set. Hospitality is the fire that keeps me warm, cringe? Sure. True? Absolutely.
